Application Engineer

General Expectations

Position Summary

As a CNC applications engineer, your responsibilities include programming vertical, horizontal, and CNC turning centers for production machining systems, completing a machine assessment for each, and ensuring full customer satisfaction. Some jobs require you to run customer demonstrations, create demo programs for showrooms, and recommend the best machining strategies and efficient ways to process parts. You are also expected to provide accurate cost estimates and write engineering reports. Other duties include setting up custom demos and training customers on safe set-up and operation of their CNC machining centers, lathes, multitasking machines, and more.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Preferably 10 plus years CNC machine setup and programming experience
  • Experience with different tooling vendors (Sandvik, Seco, Kennametal etc)
  • Mazak experience a plus
  • CAD/CAM system experience (pref. Mastercam and/or ESPRIT)
  • Notes/Misc
  • Hours: 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday

  • Able to lift over 20 lbs.

Inside Sales Coordinator

  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations

Position Summary 

Responsible for providing support to the sales staff through the coordination of machine sales and orders, preparing special quotes, scheduling installations and service requests, and scheduling deliveries.  The position also is responsible for coordinating special onsite customer events, as well as preparing product quotes and purchase order entries.

Essential Duties

  • Facilitates machine order coordination.
  • Provide and obtain essential documents and data to the vendor and customer.
  • Coordinate logistics of new and or used machinery.
  • Schedule installations and service requests for the Field Service Engineers.
  • Prepare and quote machine and specialty items.
  • Set up machine tooling certificates and maintain the accounting for them.
  • Coordinate all customer product demonstrations and events for the company and vendors.
  • Build detailed reports using EDA for Sales Engineers to aid in their sales by showing customer buying trends, leasing expiration dates, etc.
  • Use GE specific website to perform invoicing for New York and Pennsylvania offices.
  • Coordinate customer transportation and lodging for Mazak Open House.
  • Provide internal customer service on a daily basis to employees at all locations.
  • Places specialized engineering requests to vendors on behalf of the Sales Engineers to determine cost and whether the machines can handle/perform the requests.

Non-Essential Duties

  • Responsible to pick up the mail at the post office.
  • Assist with answering the telephone.
  • Provide coverage for Clerical staff when on leave.
  • Responsible for training of new clerical staff.

Communications

The employee communicates weekly with the President to discuss order details.  In this position, communication with the Vice President of Finance occurs weekly concerning details in the accounting software.  The employee also communicates daily with the Accounting Representative to discuss details in the accounting program.  The employee communicates daily with the Sales Manager and Sales Engineers to discuss order details and customer requests.  Communication with the Field Service Engineers occurs daily to coordinate schedules.  

Skills & Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED, along with one to three years of administrative experience in the machine tool industry is required for the position.

Demonstrated ability with the Internet, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Account Software, Traverse are preferred.  

Intermediate mathematical and language and communication abilities are needed for the position.  The employee will need advanced reasoning ability in this position.
