Application Engineer

Positions available out of the East Aurora, NY, and Harleysville PA offices.

General Expectations

  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments

Position Summary

As a CNC applications engineer, your responsibilities include programming vertical, horizontal, and CNC turning centers for production machining systems, completing a machine assessment for each, and ensuring full customer satisfaction. Some jobs require you to run customer demonstrations, create demo programs for showrooms, and recommend the best machining strategies and efficient ways to process parts. You are also expected to provide accurate cost estimates and write engineering reports. Other duties include setting up custom demos and training customers on safe set-up and operation of their CNC machining centers, lathes, multitasking machines, and more.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Preferably 10 plus years CNC machine setup and programming experience
  • Experience with different tooling vendors (Sandvik, Seco, Kennametal etc)
  • Mazak experience a plus
  • CAD/CAM system experience (pref. Mastercam and/or ESPRIT)
  • Notes/Misc
  • Hours: 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday

  • Able to lift over 20 lbs.

Sales Engineer

  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations
Position Summary  

Responsible for managing a sales territory, which involves locating new potential customers and consulting with them concerning their manufacturing needs and supporting existing accounts through additional sales and service.  The position involves analyzing customer needs to provide them with solutions, to increase sales and build strong business partnerships.            

Essential Duties

  • Maintain existing customer accounts and relationships.
  • Developing new customer leads to build and strengthen customer base.
  • Achieve sales quota by closing customer orders.
  • Achieve or exceed market-share requirements.
  • Provide customer service to clients by using technical knowledge to support and build sales.
  • Inform customers of new manufacturing trends.
  • Analyze customer needs and prepare product recommendations.
  • Build relationships with builders and suppliers.
  • Maintain a CRM database.
  • Prepare a monthly report for the Sales Manager detailing outlook of territory.
  • Stay current on product knowledge and product enhancements through training.

Non-Essential Duties

Provide professional presentations.

Communications

Internally, the employee communicates on a daily basis with the Sales Manager to report and discuss sales activities and strategies, to seek support and troubleshooting, and to evaluate projects.  On a weekly basis, the employee communicates with the President to discuss sales strategies and projects.  The Sales Engineer communicates with the Inside Sales Coordinator weekly to discuss and coordinate quotes and deliveries.  Communication with the Application Engineers occurs weekly to discuss projects and demonstrations and to seek technical support.  Field Service Engineers are communicated with on a weekly basis for technical and mechanical support.  Weekly communication occurs amongst Sales Engineers to discuss projects and share sales leads.

Externally, the employee communicates with their customers on a daily basis to build sales and revenue.  Communication with distributors occurs on an as needed basis to discuss questions and sales support. 

Skills & Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Business or Mechanical Engineering, along with one to three years of outside sales experience is required for the position.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Machining or manufacturing background as well as CMTSE certification preferred.    

Must have excellent communication and relationship building skills.

Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Outlook. Experience using CRM software, ZOHO preferred.     

Advanced reasoning and language ability are needed for the position. Intermediate mathematical skill is also necessary. 

Supervisory Responsibilities

The position does not involve any supervisory responsibilities at this time.
