The Mazak HQR-200/3 NEO coordinates three turrets across the main and second spindles to shorten cycle times on complex production parts. Upper and lower turrets can perform balanced cutting at the main spindle while the third turret continues work at the second spindle. This multi-channel CNC system gives manufacturers more flexibility to overlap turning, drilling and milling operations than a conventional two-turret process.
Both spindles provide a standard bar capacity of 2.56 inches, while an optional main-spindle configuration increases capacity to 4.02 inches. Parts can transfer between spindles for cutoff, back turning and additional finishing operations without intermediate handling. Available bar feeders, workpiece unloaders and robotic automation support longer production runs when the material and finished-part handling process is properly configured.
Rotary tools extend the turning CNC machine into drilling, tapping and milling operations. Y-axis movement supports off-center holes, flats, slots and other features that require controlled tool positioning away from the spindle centerline. The MAZATROL SmoothG control provides dedicated three-turret programming displays, synchronization functions and interference checks to support high-precision CNC turning across multiple tool channels.

The Mazak HQR-200/3 NEO is an 8-inch, three-turret turning center for bar-fed and chucked parts requiring simultaneous machining across two spindles. Balanced cutting, rotary tools and Y-axis positioning allow the process to combine high-output turning with off-center features and second-side completion. A.W. Miller Technical Sales is an authorized Mazak distributor serving manufacturers throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Southern New Jersey and Quebec, with applications engineering, installation, training and factory-certified service.
Published capacity includes a 2.99-inch spindle bore, 12.60-inch maximum machining diameter and 33.86-inch maximum machining length. Both spindles support 2.56-inch bar stock, while an optional main-spindle configuration increases capacity to 4.02 inches. Tool access, channel timing, workholding, cutoff and part-removal requirements should be validated for the intended family.
Part families evaluated for the Mazak HQR-200/3 NEO include:
Three tool channels create additional opportunities to overlap cuts across the two spindles.
The main and second spindles support bar-fed production, with an enlarged main-spindle option for larger stock.
Y-axis motion supports off-center features that extend beyond conventional turning.
MAZATROL SmoothG3 provides dedicated displays and checks for coordinated turret operation.
It identifies the machine’s three-turret construction. The platform uses two upper turrets and one lower turret with two spindles.
Both spindles support 2.56-inch bar stock in the published standard configuration. Mazak also lists an optional 4.02-inch capacity for the main spindle.
Yes. Work can transfer from the main spindle to the second spindle for cutoff, back turning and other second-side operations.
It is most useful when operations can safely overlap or when additional tooling helps balance unequal workloads between the main- and second-spindle processes.
Yes. Mazak identifies bar feeders, workpiece unloaders and robots as available options for automatic production of bar-fed, shaft and chucked parts.
