The Mazak HQR-250/3 NEO uses three turrets to distribute operations across the main and second spindles. When one side of a component requires more turning, drilling or milling, work can be reassigned between turret channels to reduce idle time and improve cycle balance. The three-turret arrangement is particularly effective when the tooling layout and operation sequence allow multiple cuts to run safely at the same time.
The two-spindle configuration supports automatic part transfer for back turning and second-side completion. Rotary tools and Y-axis movement add cross holes, flats, keyways and other off-center features within the turning cycle. Keeping these operations on one machine reduces part handling and helps maintain the dimensional relationships between turned and milled features during high-precision CNC turning.
Mazatrol SmoothG provides dedicated displays and programming support for coordinating three turret channels. Virtual machining, interference checking and synchronization functions help programmers review tool movements, spindle activity and waiting commands before production begins. These functions support complex detail machining while helping contract manufacturers manage clearance and timing throughout the machining cycle.

The Mazak HQR-250/3 NEO is a three-turret, two-spindle turning center for production parts requiring balanced first- and second-operation machining. Its 10-inch main-spindle platform combines turning, rotary-tool milling, Y-axis positioning and automatic part transfer. A.W. Miller Technical Sales is an authorized Mazak distributor serving manufacturers throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Southern New Jersey and Quebec, with applications engineering, installation, training and factory-certified service.
Published capacity includes a 3.58-inch spindle bore, 12.60-inch maximum machining diameter and 33.86-inch maximum machining length. Bar capacity reaches 3.15 inches on the main spindle and 2.56 inches on the second spindle. Part geometry, workholding, turret access, channel balance and finished-part handling should be reviewed together.
Part families evaluated for the Mazak HQR-250/3 NEO include:
The additional turret creates more options for overlapping cuts and balancing unequal workloads between spindles.
Automatic transfer to the second spindle supports back working without removing the component.
Y-axis motion and rotary tools support drilled and milled geometry beyond the turning centerline.
Bar feeders, workpiece unloaders and robotic systems can be matched to the stock and production plan.
It adds a third turret to the two-spindle layout, providing another channel for overlapping operations and redistributing work between the first and second processes.
Mazak publishes a 12.60-inch maximum machining diameter and a 33.86-inch maximum machining length. Tool and fixture clearances must also be checked.
Published capacity is 3.15 inches through the main spindle and 2.56 inches through the second spindle.
Yes. Rotary tooling and Y-axis motion support cross holes, flats, slots and other off-center features.
Mazak identifies bar feeders, workpiece unloaders and robotic systems as available approaches. The correct choice depends on stock form, part handling and production volume.
